Settling In

Well, Nora will be three weeks old tomorrow, and I must say that the past three weeks have indeed been the fastest in my life. I don't know where the time has gone! It seems that just as soon as I published my last post about how Nora was doing well with eating, sleeping, and everything else, that life kinda came unglued. First, Nora started having some trouble eating and was doing a whole lot of spitting up....I mean, a whole lot! Then, we slowly started getting that figured out when she got into a new sleeping pattern where she just doesn't care to nap very much during the day. I will say that every day does get a little easier, and I have come to lovingly refer to Nora as "my little mystery." It seems that just as I think I have her figured out to an extent, she completely changes on us. I've shared this revelation with several other moms and friends and their response was "Get used to it!"

We have been so blessed to have family stay with us the first two weeks of Nora's life. My mom was here for the first week to help, then Jonathan's sister, Amy, stayed with us for a few days. Finally, Jonathan's mom came for the last week. I cannot tell you how thankful I was to have them as companions, counselors, encouragers, and baby-holders. We had some rough moments, but I have such wonderful memories now of our first days with Nora and being surrounded by the people we love and who love us.

All in all, we are still absolutely in love with our baby girl. She is so precious and is changing daily. Last week we went to the doctor for a weight check, and our little fatty is putting on plenty of weight. She was 6 lbs., 14 oz. at birth, and last week she had regained her birthweight and then some: 7 lbs., 5 oz. And that's with all of the milk she lost spitting up!

Jonathan is such a wonderful father, and he helps me out tremendously. It's such an amazing experience to realize that we are not just the two of us, but a family of three.

I just look at those pictures and wonder at her beautiful little face. God is great and mighty, and yet He creates such a delicate and beautiful baby. Awesome. We love her so much.

I adore the blond hairline. It's as if she has a halo.
