Reading List 2011

I truly love to read!  I always have.  In my life these days, reading is touch and go.  I can go months at a time without reading much besides my Bible and children's books to my kiddos.  But, then I get on kicks where I read a lot.  I think it has a lot to do with how much sleep I am getting and how I am doing with being disciplined and how much television I am in the habit of watching, but there were a few months in 2010 where I really got into reading.  I would like to grow in this area in 2011.  When it comes to reading books about theology, I think I have a disorder.  I NEVER finish books.  Seriously, I can get to the last two to three chapters and then walk away from a book.  (Currently, that is the status with Trusting God by Jerry Bridges.  The books is AMAZING and has really affected me, but my disorder kicked in and I still have not finished it! uGH!!).  So, needless to say, this is something I want to change.  I want to be a FINISHER OF BOOKS!  So, I am going to set a small goal for myself to finish the two books I need to, and I have selected a few other books that I would like to read/reread sometime this year.  I know that when Baby #3 gets here, reading will be more difficult, so perhaps God will grant me the grace and discipline to stay on top of my Bible Reading and get into some other books before then.

Books to Finish:

Disciplines of Grace by Jerry Bridges

Trusting God by Jerry Bridges

Books to Read/Reread:

Shepherding a Child's Heart by Tedd Tripp

Instructing a Child's Heart by Tedd and Margy Tripp

When Sinners Say "I Do" by Dave Harvey

There's my list!  I've got 12 months to meet my goal, so we'll see how it goes!  If you have any other book recommendations, let me know!

I totally have the same disorder! And your list of books to finish/reread sounds so good. I may have to join you! Can't wait to hear how your doc appointment goes today. So exciting!
