Six Months!

Today Nora is 6 months old! Half a year has gone by already with our baby girl!
We love her so much and fall more in love with her everyday! Her 6-month check-up is two weeks, so I'll post her newest stats after that appointment.

I've Been Tagged

I've been tagged by my friend, Suzanne

The Rules: Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog. Share 5 random and/or weird facts about yourself on your blog OR Share the 5 top places on your “want to see or want to see again” list OR share 5 things you never pictured being in your future when you were 25 years old. Tag a minimum of 5, maximum of 10 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog. The tagees have a choice of which they want to do.

1. New York City- I have never been to the Big Apple, and neither has Jonathan. Hopefully, one of these days we can make it up there to see the sights. I am definitely planning to go in the next few years while my sister is in school up there. Emily moved to Brooklyn this past August and is pursuing a writing career at the Pratt Institute. I cannot wait to shop, explore, see Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, and of course, see a few Broadway shows!

2. Washington, D.C.- I love history and culture and museums, so I think I will LOVE going to D.C. Again, this is one of the few places Jonathan hasn't been, so I think we'd have a wonderful time exploring our nation's capital together.

3. Hawaii- I just type the word and the most wonderful visions of beauty and relaxtion overcome me. I pray that our travels will take me to the warm climate and beautiful scenery of Hawaii.

4. Europe- If/When I ever go overseas, I hope it was for atleast two weeks because there are so many places over there that I want to visit....London, Paris, several places in Italy, Greece, Scotland. The list goes on. I could slap myself for not taking advantage of the London semester program in college that would have enabled me to travel lots of these places. But, God is sovereign....I might not have met Jonathan when I did had I taken that opportunity.

5. California- I would love to travel to San Francisco and the Napa Valley area. I'm sure there is so much to see in CA, but my knowledge about the state is so limited. However, anyone that I've talked to that's been says it's amazing. Again, another place Jonathan hasn't traveled. It'll be nice one day....let's hope!

5 Places I want to see again:

1. Belize- I went on a trip with my family in my early teen years. Although I don't remember a ton about the trip, I do remember snorkeling, taking a boat ride, catching our own fish, and having the guide prepare our catch on a deserted beach for our lunch. I also remember the scenery was stunning and the beaches were so beautiful.

2. Chicago- I traveled to Chicago for a National Speech Tournament my sophomore year in high school. LOVED IT! I loved Navy Pier and several of the museums we visited. It was such a clean city and there was so much to do.

3. Rancho 3M- Jonathan and I traveled there several summers with our New Orleans church Lakeview Christian Center. Those experiences always leave you changed and challenged. I remember a set of twin girls that Jonathan absolutely fell in love with, Arelli and Adelli. We still talk about them often and wonder where they are and how they are doing. Thank the Lord for all of the wonderful things He is doing through the Adameks and the orphanage.

4. The Royal Sonesta- This is a hotel on Bourbon Street where Jonathan and I spent our honeymoon night. So romantic!

5. Telluride,CO- My most memorable family ski trip was to Telluride. It was beautiful and the skiing was so fun!

Ok, I tag Jenny Goss, Amy Townsend, a" href="http://xanga.com/tmaples">Amy Maples, Tina Gaspard, and Amanda Skinkle

Santa Fe

Last week, we were in Santa Fe on a vacation with my mom and dad, my youngest sister, Hillary, and two of her friends, Maria and Amanda (whom we lovingly refer to as "Pixie"). We flew there, and as this was our first time to fly with Nora, we were a bit anxious, but all in all, our little girl was great! While in Santa Fe, we rented a beautiful house with amazing views of the mountains. It even had an outdoor Jacuzzi, but only the teenage girls were wild enough to get in. We woke up our first morning to snow on the ground, and it continued to snow for the next three days. Durango, CO, only a few hours from where we were, was getting some of the worst snowstorms they'd had in years. We could care less; we were just enjoying the snowfall.

Jonathan and the girls skiied three of the four days we were there at the Santa Fe State Park. I think he had a great time getting reacquainted with skiing, but he didn't have many ski partners during the trip as the girls were fairly new to the process. While they were on the mountain, Nora, myself, and my parents explored Santa Fe. My two favorite things about the town are the food and the shopping. We ate at several local, family-run Mexican restaurants that were phenomenal. I got chicken enchiladas almost everywhere we went, and each time they were smothered in this famous "green chile." Delicioso!!!! Oh, and for the dessert, the sopaipillas were HUGE and we would smother them in honey! So good!

Downtown Santa Fe was beautiful. There are countless art galleries and gorgeous churches and other historical buildings. While there, we bought Nora some pink handmade mocassins. She really had a great time shopping with her grandparents. We had such a wonderful time with my family. And although I have gained a new understanding of what it means to "vacation" with a baby, we were able to relax some and make some wonderful memories.

Where does the time go?

I look at the calendar and I can hardly believe that we are in the middle of February already! Where does the time go? We have been busy the past few weeks, and although that is very true, I feel like I am constantly saying that! Anyway, here is a rundown of some of the things that we have been doing.

1. Nora's baby dedication was on Sunday, January 20th at our church Cornerstone Church of Knoxville. My mom was in town for the weekend and was able to be there for the ceremony. We had such a wonderful visit when my mom came.....although it was short!

2. Jonathan turned 28 on January 27th! Jonathan's folks came in town on his birthday to celebrate with us. No offense to Jonathan, but I think they really were looking for an excuse to see Nora Belle. They stayed in Knoxville for a few days and we got to spend some good quality time with them. We went out to dinner one night at Outback, Jonathan's restaurant of choice, for his birthday dinner, and his parents got him the Guitar Hero game for the Nintendo Wii. Lots of fun times ahead, I'm sure.

3. February 2-7 we were in Santa Fe, NM, with my mom, dad, and sister for a little vacation! This was quite an adventure (I'll give more details about the trip in a later post), and it was Nora's first time to fly. We had a fantastic time and Nora did so well considering the major jolts to her schedule. Jonathan got to ski a few days while Nora and I got to explore downtown Santa Fe with my folks. It was a blast.

4. We got a new car. After traveling back and forth from Knoxville to New Orleans to Jackson during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, it became very apparent to us that we either (A) seriously needed to relearn how to pack "lightly" or (B) needed to get a bigger vehicle for all of our (ahem, Nora's) stuff. We just barely made it home with all of our luggage and baby gear PLUS Christmas gifts. Anyway, we recently got a 2004 GMC Envoy, so our travels back home to see family should be a lot roomier from now on.

5. Nora is growing like a weed. It's hard to believe that in one week, she will be SIX months old. My baby girl is getting so big. She's definitely been filling out and putting on the weight since we started her on rice cereal and some fruits and vegetables over the past several weeks. She loves to eat her cereal. Funny thing she does: If you've ever seen the movie What About Bob, you may remember the scene where Bob (Bill Murray) is eating fried chicken for dinner. With every bite he takes, he obnoxiously makes this "mmmmm" sound to emphasize how good his meal is. Well, meet Nora! She does the same thing. It's hysterical. With every spoonful, she makes this "mmmm" sound. It's probably my fault! I think I make those noises at her while I'm feeding her to try and encourage her that her food is yummy!

So, there is the scoop. I'll give another post with pics and details about our Santa Fe trip. Also, Nora's 6th month check-up is coming soon, so we'll give the scoop on that then.
