Liam's hair is out of control. Seriously, it's everywhere. It sticks straight up, straight out, straight back. It's like he has "I just woke up from a nap" hair all. the. time. At least he has hair, right?
I say it's out of control, but seriously, we just love it. It's just one of those things that makes our Liam, our Liam. However, I do have to draw the line about his hair growing over his ears. I just have a problem with guy's hair that grows so long over their ears that you can't see their ears. Liam needed a little help and a trim, so at the suggestion and encouragement of a friend who does hair, I decided to give it a whirl.
It was.....interesting. I did what my friend Kristi suggested. I strapped the kid in good in a chair, gave him a snack, gave him a toy, and set him in front of the television. This helped. Some. But, Liam was so intrigued with what I was doing that it made it somewhat complicated. Not to mention that I was trimming his hair with CRAFT scissors. I mean the scissors were bigger than his head. His hair is so fine and not very long to begin with, so that was not working. The only other thing I could think of was a pair of nail scissors that Jonathan keeps in his nail kit. So I busted those babies out and felt a bit better about cutting so close to my only son's ears and brain and eyes.
All in all, you can't even really tell that Liam has had a haircut. Which, in my humble opinion, is a GOOD thing! There were no tears, no broken skin, no blood, no major gaps in his hairline. I say my mission was accomplished. I managed to cut the hair that was over his ears, and sort of got brave and tried to cut some off the back. Yeah. I quit shortly after starting that. I'm going to leave it to the professionals from now on, unless I can just buzz this boy's head. We'll see.
Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain; unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. Psalm 127:1
